What’s In My Bag

It takes a lot to be in a creative mode.  In the photo you will see what is in my bag right now.  Starting at the top:

  1. Starbucks Cool Lime Refreshers
  2. My cute newish wallet
  3. For Lovers of God Everywhere: Poems of the Christian Mystics
    by Roger Housden
  4. Staedtler Triplus Pens
  5. This I Know: Notes on Unraveling the Heart by Susannah Conway
  6. My moleskin journal
  7. My calendar that I use to write a 2-3 sentance summary of my day.
  8. My iPad
  9. The Artist’s Way  by Julia Cameron (I am in an online group that is working through the book).

These have been my tools lately to stay on top of my creativity.  The Artist’s Way has been encouraging me to write more often.  The Morning Pages are usually where I end up with ideas for blog entries and for more upcoming projects.  From This I Know I have been going back and doing all of the reflections/prompts.  Some of those are creatively driven as well.  For my entries I have been using my Triplus pens to brighten up my pages and to have on hand in case I feel the urge to doodle in the entry too.  For Lovers of God Everywhere is just a good read to have on hand for inspiration.  (One of my favorites from this book is Unholy Sonnet #4 by Mark Jarman). Lastly, if you haven’t tried the new Starbucks Refreshers, do.  They are light and very good, and caffeinated!

Be well. Create. Inspire.

  1. I don’t comment much on blogs, but had to for 2 reasons. I have been putting a lot of time into pursuing creativity and opening up, after living a pretty hidden, closed up life for 35+ years. My spark was always there, but under a bushel, I guess. I spend more and more time reading, writing, knitting, making stuff and dreaming. The artist’s way has been a real inspiration to me. Anyway, I saw your bag and had to laugh, bc it looks so much like my bag, as I head to one cafe or another here in Amsterdam, where I live.

The second reason is that I saw your prints in Taproot and they really spoke to me. I love the words you chose and your images are perfect. Thanks for that.

    • Kathy- I work at a spiritual center as my day job and will be facilitating the Artist’s Way soon. I am very familiar with it but haven’t made it through the whole process. So, in part, this will hold me accountable to get through the whole process. I use some bits and pieces of what I do know of it.

Thank you so much for the kind words about the prints. Taproot (& Amanda) have been wonderful to collaborate with. I have another print coming out in the DREAM issue.

Keep being creative, it truly does reside in all of us. We just have to be ready to do it. You can find me on Ravelry.com under RainMomma. Be well. Create. Inspire.
